Rev. Paul-Anthony Halladay, S.T.L.

Bio

Fr. Halladay began his professional career in 1988 as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in St. Kitts and Nevis, West Indies. His work there supported the establishment and funding of farm, fishing, and school cooperatives and included assisting with the development of legislation to uphold responsible management of natural resources and the marine food supply. As a secondary project, required of Peace Corps Volunteers, Fr. Halladay worked with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for St. Kitts and Nevis. In that capacity, he co-founded the Young Entrepreneurs Society for Basseterre High School in St. Kitts and aided with the development of a Historical Zone in the Capital City of Basseterre. He was elected Lead Volunteer for the cohort of U.S. Peace Corps Volunteers assigned to the twin island federation and responsible for representing their needs to the Peace Corps, Eastern Caribbean Regional Office.

Upon completion of his Peace Corps Service in 1990, Fr. Halladay became a Seminarian for his home Archdiocese of Mobile, Alabama, entering St. Joseph’s College Seminary in St. Benedict, Louisiana. During pastoral assignments as a Seminarian with his Archdiocese, he has held the position of Archivist and has served as a Pastoral Assistant at St. Ignatius Loyola in Mobile. In April 1999, Fr. Halladay entered the Chaplain Candidate Program and served in Germany and in Belgium. In June 2000, he was ordained to the Priesthood at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Mobile and served as an Associate Pastor at St Pius X and St. Ignatius of Loyola parishes in Mobile, and St Columba’s parish in Dothan, Alabama before entering Active Duty as a U.S. Army Chaplain in September 2004.

After 20 years with the Army, Fr. Halladay has retired from Active Duty and now teaches seminarians and works with Fr. Gary Thomas as Assistant Director of St. Patrick’s Propaedeutic Program. Fr. Halladay resides at and serves the Church of the Nativity in Menlo Park.
