Bio

Before joining the Franciscan Friars of the Holy Name Province, Fr. Nguyen left Vietnam at the age of 25 to come to the United States.  He holds a D.Min. from the Catholic University of America, where he studied Systematic Theology and Spirituality, and he also earned a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from Creighton University.  He served as Spiritual Director at St. Mary’s Seminary in Houston and Holy Apostles and Seminary in Cromwell, CT; Parochial Vicar at St. Anthony Shrine in Boston; and Coordinator to establish the Pontifical Theological College in Vietnam.  He has translated numerous theological works into Vietnamese, including Karl Rahner’s Foundations of Christian Faith and various works by Joseph Ratzinger.

Conference/Workshop Presentation

Directed a week long retreat for the Holy Cross sisters from May 23 to 28, 2021, Houston, TX.

Master of retreat to the Franciscan Conventual Friars of St. John Capistrano from September 13 -17, 2021 at Villa Maria Del Mar.

Directed a weekend retreat for the former Franciscans from October 1 – 3, 2021.

Gave a retreat for Our Lady of La Vang Parish, San Jose on October 7 and December 9 – 10, 2021.

A keynote presenter of “A Virtual Catholic Catechetical Conference” on November 6, 2021 sponsored by Archdioceses of San Francisco and Honolulu, diocese of Fresno, Las Vegas, Monterey, Reno, Sacramento, San Bernadino, San Jose, and Stockton.
