Matthew Dal Santo, Ph.D.

Bio

Matthew Dal Santo is a Church historian. Originally educated at the University of Sydney, Australia, he has a PhD in the history of the patristic-era of the Church from the University of Cambridge. He is a former Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge, a former Danish Research Council Fellow at the University of Copenhagen and has held visiting fellowships at the Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C., and the Catholic University of America. He has also served as a foreign policy officer with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs. Originally trained as a medievalist and patrologist, he has shifted his focus to the problem of secularization in recent years. His most recent book is a theological reading of the Russian Revolution. He is currently completing a second course of doctoral studies in Byzantine theology.
