Director of Human Formation, Assistant Professor of Pastoral Studies

Bio

Fr Sean Kilcawley currently serves as Director of Human formation at St Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park, California. He is a 1996 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, and served three years on active duty as an Infantry Officer. In 1999, he left active duty to enter seminary formation for the Diocese of Lincoln, Ne and was ordained a priest in 2005. In 2013 he earned a license in Sacred Theology from the John Paul II institute in Rome. In 2019 he completed training and certification as a Pastoral Sexual Addiction Practioner through the International Institute for Trauma and Addictions Professionals. Fr Kilcawley served as the Family Life Office Director for the Diocese of Lincoln from 2014-2022 and as pastor of St Leo and St Martin Catholic Churches in Palmyra and Douglas, Nebraska from 2021-2025. Fr Sean has spoken to Clergy, seminarians, and diocesan leaders in over 45 dioceses and is a faculty member for the Avila Institute High Calling program and the Institute for Priestly Formation. His publications include “Compulsive Sexual behavior and seminary formation” in Clerical Sexual Misconduct an interdisciplinary analysis (Cluney 2020). And is a contributing author to the book Reclaiming Sexual Wholeness: An integrative Christian Approach to Sexual Addiction.
