About the Lecture

Reductionism Lost, Reduction Regained: Science, Theology and Metaphysics

Drawing on exciting developments in cutting-edge physics, Conor Cunningham challenges the reductionist logic animating the search for a single sovereign Theory of Everything. Professor Cunningham shows how reductionism handicaps science and forces nature into an ideological straitjacket. In so doing, he lays the foundation for a new understanding of reduction—not as a dissolution of wholes into parts, but as a recovery of wholes and parts together.
